Imagination, Inspiration, Motivation Activation
I often get ask as to where I find the above traits to do my writing. The first has never been a question that I can truly answer with any conviction. You could give me a topic on any subject, no matter what it is and my brain will start rolling out a scenario and a story will form. I have been very fortunate to lead a very eclectic life, from growing up in a multi cultural neighbourhood, playing in local sporting clubs, to having a work resume that resembles an encyclopedia. But I believe that working as a kids entertainer really helped with the improvisation.
It is funny though that as a younger man I was considered a bullshit artist, and now I have evolved into an artist. There is an old adage that you should never let the truth get in the way of a good story, so I have taken that on board as my credo. Though in later life I am discovering through research into my latest novel that truth is actually stranger than fiction, and there are consequences to discovering those truths.
Then I get asked about what inspires me to write?
When writing my first two books in the "Angel in a Demon's Cloak" series, it was all about the story that had been circling in my head for years. As I had many 'odd' experiences through my life, from spiritual journey's to just seeing some weird stuff that didn't make any sense, it was quite an adrenaline rush to bring those things out of my head and into the material world. It just goes to show that you don't need to be travelling at 100 miles an hour to produce those exciting chemicals in your brain. Though the thoughts in my head are moving at a much more rapid rate than that.
Motivation is the hardest trigger to pull. As of late, I have been suffering from a form of fatigue, due to a lack of fitness. Also a summer full of cricket and hot weather hasn't helped my cause at all either. But it is very similar to going to the gym. The first day is always the hardest to walk through the door, but once you get started it becomes an addiction again.
Today I bought a new chair to sit at my desk, as my old one had been drained of all it's energy and comfort. Even as I type this post I can feel a spark of fresh inspiration to write all sorts of things, from blogs to articles, poetry to song lyrics and I have even started my Autobiography which I have title "On the road to Success, but my car wouldn't start"
Activation is where I get lost from time to time as I get to the end of a project and feel satisfied. To be able to support your dreams yo need to a self promoter and a salesperson as well. Not my forte'.
Since being blacklisted by the social networks under their blanket censorship ban of anyone who doesn't promote their narrative, it has definitely made life harder. I would like to take it personally, but I know that their are a lot more talented people out there suffering from the same fate. It's a shame that if you want to promote hate filled rhetoric of politicians, socialist propaganda and the sexualisation of children in leftist media, then that's okay and you will be fed hundreds f thousands of views. But as soon as you speak out against someone who identifies himself as a kitchen door, and you point out that they really aren't a kitchen door, then you are the bad guy.
So if you have made it this far, then now you can understand how the truth is so much more fun to play with as it is great deal weirder than fiction. Some strange shit is going on around the world at the moment, and around me as well, but I will try to keep anyone who is interested up to date, and always remember I have never been or ever will be a self harmer.
Cheers my friends
